Promoting Equality and Diversity – Our Values and Aims
In carrying out our functions as a community group The Living Tree is committed to promoting equalities and open access. The committee members will seek to ensure that no-one is discriminated against, by any characteristic, in the planning and delivery of our activities.
We aim to make the values of equality, diversity and respect for all, fundamental to everything that we do.
We believe that a culture that embraces equality and values the diversity within the communities we serve will help us to ensure that everyone can feel involved and included in our plans, programmes and activities.
We aim to create and maintain an environment which respects and welcomes all, and within which no form of bullying, harassment, disrespectful or discriminatory behavior, is tolerated by anyone towards anyone.
We are committed to respecting the privacy of members and others with whom we come into contact. The committee members will not impart membership or other information to third parties without express permission.
We welcome and greatly value openness within our group but expect all to treat any personal information received as confidential.
We are committed to using accessible venues for events and meetings as far as practical, and to using plain English and offering accessible communications as far as it is within our means to do so.
We also recognise that income or the lack of it can potentially limit access and/or participation in our programmes and activities. The committee members will, therefore, seek to offer financial and practical support, where appropriate and within our resources, in order to overcome this obstacle.
